![]() While I am not a degreed engineer, I have 15 years experience in the testing of rotating machinery. So, here I am trying to introduce NI into my company, an OEM of rotating machinery, and I am running into some skepticism. Further, you are probably aware that NI and BN's business styles are about 180 degree's from one another, at least in my opinion. And, since you both appear very knowledgeable you may be familiar with Bently. Bently of course, is the established main stay of rotating machinery diagnostics. One, I am trying to satisfy a customers question. Secondly, I am comparing National Instruments and Bently Nevada. Would you direct me to the VI's that make this measurement and where in the code it occurs? It would seem a correct conclusion that a signal occurring at eight (8) times rotative speed would have its phase lag relationship measured once every eight cycles of the super synchronous signal. Thank you both for the very informative and revealing replies. When the heavy spot passes the proximity probe and the keyway slot passes the tachometer simultaneously, the peak of the vibration does not lag or lead the reference trigger point. When the heavy spot passes the proximity probe, the vibration reaches a peak. The heavy spot causes the shaft to vibrate as the shaft rotates. When the keyway slot passes the tachometer, the tachometer detects a trigger pulse. The shaft has a heavy spot and a keyway slot. The trigger point here is the tachometer pulses.įigure 1 shows the relationship of the vibration signal and reference signal to zero degree phase. This means the directions of numerically increasing angles are always set against the shaft rotation. Phase is defined as the angle difference measured from the peak of a vibration signal backward in time to the reference trigger point. It might not look like much now but this puts a foot through the door for more multiplayer smartphone gaming options in the future. The Phase measurement in the LabVIEW Order Analysis Toolkit uses the phase lag convention. This also works on the tablet, in that you can not only use your tablet as a handheld console but also to display the field like your desktop browser can, by requesting desktop view (on Chrome). So, basically, you and your friends need to be in the same room to view the events unravelling during the race. You can get any of your friends anywhere to connect to the game via the code, but they do not have a view of the field. Press on ‘All players are ready’ and it will bring you to the page to select your avatar.Īfter choosing your avatars, you and your friends can start racing against each other by gesturing on your respective phones. When all of the smartphones are in sync with the game, the first player to log in with the code will have the option to start the game from their smartphone. You’ll notice at the bottom part of your desktop browser how many of your friends have joined the race. You can race with friends by getting them to g.co/super and keying in the code. On your mobile browser, enter the code, then click Sync.Ĭhoose your avatar and start gesturing on your phone to get your avatar to the end of the race. You will need this code to sync your smartphone to the desktop browser. Pick single mode or multiplayer mode and you will get to this screen with a code. ![]() Choose from the event you want to race in: running, cycling or swimming. To try this out, go to Chrome Super Sync Sports on your desktop computer or laptop to set up the race and sync in the contestants. Recommended Reading: A Look Into: Cloud Gaming Syncing The Race Everyone shares a common view on a single desktop browser and use their own smartphones to gesture and move their avatars to the finishing line. Chrome Super Sync is a Chrome experiment that allows several players to come together and game on the same field using their smartphones as handheld consoles.įor now, the games are limited to three types of sports: swimming, running and cycling races. So PS4 has been announced, with the possibility of cloud gaming, but we’re here to talk about a streamed down yet interesting new way we can now game on our smartphones, together.
